What Constitutes an Emergency:

  • Severe toothache or dental pain
  • Knocked-out or loose tooth
  • Broken or cracked tooth
  • Lost filling or crown
  • Swelling in face or gums
  • Bleeding that won't stop

While You Wait:

Apply a cold compress for swelling. For a knocked-out tooth, keep it moist in milk or saliva. Take over-the-counter pain relief as needed.

Note: For severe facial trauma, difficulty breathing, or uncontrolled bleeding, go to the emergency room immediately.
